When you think about Caserta thought immediately runs to the famous palace (Reggia di Caserta) of the same name, one of the most sumptuous palaces ever built in Italy. To reach the Royal Palace of Caserta from Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi is advisable to book a trip in the car, since it is necessary to use different means of public transport to get there. Built in 1751, the palace was designed by the architect Luigi Vanvitelli at the request of King Charles of Bourbon, who wanted to build a building that could compete with the large residences of European monarchs, especially with Versailles. The immense residence includes 1200 rooms, 34 staircases and windows 1742, plus four courtyards and thousands of rooms, chapels, museums and theaters. In the park of 120 acres, there are avenues, fountains, the Great Falls and several sculptures.
